As part of a long-standing tradition, CJRW took four interns under its wing this summer for the Ronald A. Robinson Intern Program. With Ron Robinson as our agency’s first college intern, and now a retired chairman and CEO, it’s easy to see the enormous opportunities that could lie ahead for each CJRW intern. Each summer 2015 intern was hand-selected by our executive committee and division directors. Throughout the six-week program, each of them really showed their stuff and impressed us all.
Each was assigned to a specific department and team or supervisor to work under for the summer. The departments included media and digital, account services, travel and tourism, and public relations. They were challenged with group projects and individual tasks that expanded their knowledge of how an agency works, industry trends, and creative thinking/problem-solving processes.
One of their first assignments was creating a 15-second radio spot for Arkansas tourism.
Gaining some media knowledge and extra networking, they took a tour of 103.7 The Buzz’s radio station headquarters, as well as a tour of FOX 16.
The CJRW interns also visited Governor Asa Hutchinson at the State Capitol and were given a look inside the Treasury Department’s money vault.
You may have seen our interns as they traveled throughout the state for Arkansas Parks and Tourism’s Welcome to Arkansas program as “secret shoppers.”
In addition to helping with typical office and intern duties, this year’s intern class was especially helpful during our move to our new office at the corner of 3rd and Main in Little Rock, Arkansas (bye bye burgundy carpet, you won’t be missed).
Thanks for all your help this summer, interns! We hate to see you go. :’(
