AR Kids Read
In 2009, nearly 47 percent of Central Arkansas fourth graders were reading below grade level, putting those youth at a serious disadvantage in their education. Many of which would ultimately drop out of school, end up on welfare or end up in trouble.
Central Arkansas community leaders identified K-12 education as the top issue affecting the economic future of Arkansas.
AR Kids Read was developed in 2012 as a non-profit to address this problem, specifically the issue of literacy. Their goal is to help children get to a proficient reading level before the beginning of fourth grade.
AR Kids Read reached out the CJRW for creative and digital support to generate awareness of the organization and develop strategies behind recruiting new partners, volunteers and supporters.
